Modal Auxiliaries

Modal auxiliary verbs can not be used on their own and appear with a main verb.

Common mistake to avoid with modals ---------
  • Modal verbs (auxiliary) only have one form which never Changes. eg:They do not take 's' in the third person singular subject.
  • Always use base form of the verb after the modal auxiliary.                     eg: He must work hard to get success.
  • Modal verbs are auxiliary and they don't take another auxiliary to form the negation or question.
